Discipleship Strategy
Our ministry strategy here at Second is designed around our purpose statement, "For the glory of God: Loving God, Loving Others, & Making Disciples". Our purpose statement is not only WHAT we do, but HOW we do what we do. It is an intentional, straight-forward process, designed to move our church members along a simple process to become ever-growing disciples of Christ.
"Loving God" (Gather for Worship)
This stage of the process is known as the "front door" to the church. This is the part of our ministry through which most people enter the church. We Love God by worshiping Him together. We have intentional programs, ministries, & events that are designed to move people from corporate worship to the next stage of our ministry process, "Loving Others".
"Loving Others" (Connect Through Small Groups)
Our Sunday morning Small Groups are how we accomplish the Loving Others part of our ministry strategy. Our Small Group ministry is designed to bring people together where they will study the Word of God together, walk through life's journey together, & come alongside one another in times of joy, sadness, struggle, or celebration. Through our Small Groups, members are encouraged to "do life together". Our Sunday morning Small Groups are also the primary avenue through which ministry opportunities are made known. There are intentional programs, ministries, & events that are designed to move people from our Small Groups to the next stage of our ministry process, "Making Disciples".
"Making Disciples" (Grow and Serve Through Discipleship)
Making Disciples is the "equipping" portion of our strategic process. Through relational-discipleship, members are trained, mentored, & equipped to become ever-growing, disciple-making disciples of Christ. Produced from this portion of our process are intentional programs, ministries, & events, that are designed to move people into corporate worship, which continues the ongoing process of discipleship.
